Information you voluntarily provide
While using CWE’s website, you may voluntarily submit personal information. CWE collects certain personal information and may include your name, postal address, email address, phone number(s), financial information, demographic or location information. Credit card information obtained from Individuals who contribute to CWE, purchase certain information or materials from CWE, or subscribe to various CWE publications, trainings or other services, may also be collected.
The Center for Wildlife Ethics may also collect and maintain other information that cannot identify you personally when you visit our website. This information includes your IP address and domain name. Your IP information allows us to understand how you use our site and enables CWE to make changes to our site in order to improve your experience and the services provided. Any information regarding your computer, connection to our website (browser, operating system, etc.), and your user history (including, but not limited to specific page visits, length of visits, page errors) may also be collected to analyze trends or respond to your message or request.
Your personal information will not be collected for use that is in violation of the law, or unrelated to the purposes discussed in this policy, unless you are also provided an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. It is CWE’s policy not to disclose, sell, or rent your personal information to any individual, business, government entity, or outside parties except: (i) to provide products or services you’ve requested through us; (ii) in response to a validly-issued subpoena, court order, or other legal process; (iii) when necessary to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal action; or (iv) where you request the Center for Wildlife Ethics to do so. We may use the information you voluntarily provide to contact you regarding wildlife and/or public land-related issues we feel you may be interested in, to keep you apprised of CWE’s work, and to extend an invitation to you to support our efforts.
From time to time, the CWE may link to other websites not affiliated with the CWE. The CWE attempts to link only to those websites which also respect a visitor's privacy and the goals of the CWE. However, the CWE cannot be responsible for the content or policies of third-party websites. Please check with these third-party organizations or companies for their specific privacy policies. The Center for Wildlife Ethics takes precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via our website, your information is protected. Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and "https" at the beginning of CWE’s URL address on our Web page.
While the CWE uses encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only CWE entrusted staff members who need your information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
